New to YES! this year, the Royalton YES! team shot off the starting line with great enthusiasm and results!
Among the exciting projects they tackled, was assisting in designing and building an electric vehicle (EV). The EV was featured this spring at the Brainard International Raceway (see photo at right) and will continue to serve as a demonstration to the Royalton community about opportunities for sustainable energy. Additionally, their team worked on a a solar powered boat that was featured on Lake Phalen in May.
Along with these exciting demonstrations, their team worked with their city council and mayor to plan for the city’s needs in both green energies and new technologies. They also updated their school’s recycling by placing consistently labeled recycling bins throughout the building, setting up a collection schedule and making announcements and sending information to school staff.
