The Feast Forward event at the Ney Nature Center on Sunday July 19, 2015 brought environmental educators, families, and even a pastor from all over Minnesota together to have a blast in the great outdoors. From examining macroinvertebrates in their natural habitat to receiving a park tour by way of the rustic “people mover,” a great time was indeed had by everyone that attended.

After the activities concluded, everyone gathered for a meal catered by the Saint Peter Food Co-op with donations from East Henderson Farm and Toody’s Sweet Treats. Everyone feasted on pulled pork with homemade barbecue sauce from local ingredients, a cucumber salad, potato salad, and upside-down rhubarb cake. The food was so delicious that many went back for seconds.

To top the night off, attendees were able to take home magazines donated by Do It Green! Minnesota, which were full of articles designed to green up everyday life.

Missed the event but want to partake in the next juicy goodness? Good news! Feast Forward is a traveling social event designed by the Minnesota Association for Environmental Education (MAEE). They are currently planning the next event to be held in the Duluth area in the fall. Be sure to follow their website to stay tuned for updates.

Additionally, the Ney Nature Center is open sunup to sun down for you to explore on your own. They also have a great staff that can create a special learning experience for your group. Contact them here to set something up.
