Green Sneakers

By Pakou Vue, WWG student

The WWG Earth Y.E.S class has been doing the Green Sneakers project. This project included the communities of Westbrook and Walnut Grove including both schools. We put up posters and bins in the communities and schools. We were able to bring in almost 600lbs of shoes.

Not only are we keeping 600lbs of garbage out of the landfills, but we are also giving over 300 pairs of shoes to people in third-world countries. By doing this project we are helping people, saving the environment, and getting 50 cents per lbs of shoes. This project was a ‘win-win’ situation, easy to do and can be done anywhere.

We raised about $300 dollars that will go towards our Lending Library [see Lending Library description in ‘Calling’ All Unused Phones blog post].
