I am currently a student at St. Cloud State University, studying Planning and Community Development and Environmental Studies. I chose these degrees because of my deep love for everything natural. Ever since I was a small child I have always loved being outdoors whether it was helping my grandma in her garden or searching for snakes and frogs with my brother. I have always cherished the sense of place I feel in my small town, New London. This is what drives my interest in the Planning and Community Development and Environmental Fields. I feel that in order for a city to be sustainable, it needs to involve community members, especially our youth. This is what excites me about YES!, getting our youth involved in projects that will make our communities sustainable and enjoyable to live in. Staying local and helping the community in which I was raised is important to me; to help build the community that created the person I am today.
