There is a new YES Team on the scene in 2024: The Willmar Community Education YES Team! Hear from Trevor and Joy, two new YES team members about their Eco Story as they explain why the environment is important to them and their motivations behind taking action.

My favorite thing about being outdoors is hearing the sounds of nature. I also like getting some fresh air. My favorite outdoor place is the grove behind our house. I noticed that more trees in the grove are dying. It makes me feel nervous because I’m worried this could be happening in other places. I am also worried because my grandparents’ bees used to survive every winter, but lately because of pesticides, they won’t survive a single winter. This makes me mad that people use too many pesticides. I want to protect the environment to help endangered species and stop pollution. I also want to clean up public areas and spread awareness.

My favorite part about being outdoors is being able to see the beautiful trees, forests, rivers, flowers, and so much more. My favorite place outdoors is any place at sunset or sunrise. I just love being able to see the beautiful colors in the sky. I’ve seen some forests getting smaller with less and less animals. This makes me feel sad that so many things are dying, but I’ve also seen some forests growing with families of deer, bunnies, and insects. This made me feel good about the people planting the trees and feeding the animals. Protecting the environment makes me feel good and like I impacted the Earth. I would like to do many YES projects like recycling, cleaning land, and anything that helps the environment. Those are my favorite parts about the environment and YES.
