Westbrook Walnut Grove YES! Christmas Light Project

Written and submitted by a guest

The Westbrook Walnut Grove Earth YES class wanted to collect enough lights to go around their school.  They collected a total of 4,488 feet of Christmas lights.   This far exceeded their goal of 1,362 feet of Christmas lights.  These lights will be sent to Sleepy Eye then to Waseca Job Plus.  At Waseca Job Plus the lights will be striped of the copper wire to be reused.

If all of the lights that were recycled were replaced with LED lights, the community would save  a total of $963.16, and reduce carbon emissions from 191 pounds per season to 3.8 pounds per season.
