YES! is welcoming a new member to our staff – Erin Nordquist is a YES! Coordinator who will be working with the Central YES! teams while working out of the Sauk River Watershed District in Sauk Centre. We are excited for Erin to share her experience and passion with the YES! Program.
Hello everyone! My name is Erin Nordquist and I am very excited to be working with the YES! Program as coordinator for the Central MN teams! I grew up in the heart of St. Cloud, MN. I attended St. Cloud State University (SCSU) and earned a BS in Ecology and Field Biology with a Natural Resources emphasis. During my last years at SCSU, I was an intern for the City of St. Cloud in the Stormwater department, where I discovered my passion for working to maintain and protect clean waterways through projects and public education. Among my other stormwater activities, I developed educational materials geared toward younger generations and represented the City of St. Cloud in the Central Minnesota Water Education Alliance (CMWEA).
After earning my degree, I worked as the Watershed Coordinator for the Heron Lake Watershed District (HLWD) in Heron Lake, MN for a year. While I was with HLWD, I worked on a project for the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) to characterize the West Fork Des Moines River Watershed and develop restoration and protection strategies for its waterways. I also completed the Watershed Specialist certification program through the University of Minnesota during this time.
I have recently moved back to the St. Cloud area and began working as the Environmental Project Technician at the Sauk River Watershed District (SRWD). It is through SRWD that I have the opportunity to work with the YES! Program.
When I am not working, you can probably find me playing with my dog River, playing guitar, reading, or geeking out about native plants. I look forward to meeting and getting to know all the Central MN teams and working together to make a difference in our community!
