YES! Welcomes Rebecca Inver

YES! is welcoming a new member to our staff – Rebecca Inver is a YES! coordinator in the Southern region of MN.  We are excited for Rebecca to share her knowledge and enthusiasm with the YES! Program as a Coordinator for the Southern MN teams!
Here is a little more about Rebecca:

I am super excited to join the YES! team so I can combine my two passions–working with youth and improving our planet.  Though I just moved to Minnesota in August, I am very eager to learn alongside the Southern Minnesota teams about sustainable solutions in the area.  I hope I can help inspire some of the students that I meet this year to develop a life-long love for the environment and continue working to protect it.

I developed my love for the environment by spending time in nature as a child.  My love for the outdoors, and especially the ocean, inspired me to travel around the world studying marine biology.  From sea turtles in Costa Rica to dolphins in Panama to sharks in South Africa to plankton in Mexico, I have seen the wonderful gifts that this world has to offer.  I can’t wait to share all that I have learned with students.
After earning my degree in Marine Biology, I went on to get my Masters degree in Environmental Education at Antioch University New England.  When I graduated from Antioch, I worked on a sailboat with Rozalia Project for a Clean Ocean researching marine debris and teaching others about how to prevent trash in our waterways.  Last year, I continued my work in the sailing world by providing sailing programs to at-risk youth in Boston.  You can check out a clip from a local news station highlighting that program.

When not working, you are most likely to find me outside playing with my adopted dog Millie, cooking, or exploring Minneapolis.  I can’t wait to turn my focus inland and learn more about environmental needs in the Midwest.  This year, I look forward to meeting new people and using my past experiences working with youth help lead the next generations in the pursuit of a sustainable future!
