On Saturday, May 19th students from throughout the state competed at the annual Solar Boat Regatta. Students have to design and build a system for creating a solar powered boat. Students from Wrenshall YES! (Youth Eco Solutions) competed for the first time this year and were successful.
There were three different races: 1) speed race, 2) maneuverability race, and 3) endurance race. Wrenshall won both the speed and endurance portions, and took second in the maneuverability race. Placing first overall in the competition!
There were 15 different boats in the competition from throughout the state. Wrenshall students represented themselves well. YES! (with support from the Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund and the McKnight Foundation) provided funding for the project and without which students would not have had that opportunity.
