WWG YES! Project Heating Up: Solar Pop Can Heaters

This is a guest blog post by the Westbrook-Walnut Grove (WWG) YES! team

March 25: We have just finished our second model of the solar pop can heater. Our next step is to take it outside and test it. We are hoping to find a larger degrees difference with this bigger model. Stay tuned to see our results!

WWG_Pop can heaters_3.2016_2WWG_Pop can heaters_3.2016March 14: The WWG Earth YES! team has finished and tested our first solar pop can heater. It was a success! Now, the goal is to build a bigger model. We have been doing well on our progress. All our needed materials are ordered and ready to be in use. We plan to build a 42 7/8 inch x 21 1/4 inch box; all the cans are glued and painted black. The following step is to put everything together. We will be posting as we progress into this bigger model.

Sai Yang_WWG_Pop can heaters_2.2016February 22: Today we worked on gluing pop cans together to make solar pop can heaters. Today we worked for 30 minutes and we got about 20 cans glued and set in an area to dry. We plan to keep gluing cans the next couple of days and then build the box for it once we know how big we want to build it. And from now on everyday we work on our project we will be blogging.
