WWG YES! Team Pop Tab Collection

Guest Post Submitted by the Westbrook-Walnut Grove (WWG) Earth YES! Class

The WWG Earth YES! Class organized the 2nd annual Pop Tab Collection this year. There were a total of 6 different schools that participated this year. Each participating school was given a twenty-five dollar check for participating in the pop tab collection competition and the winning team will win a seventy-five dollar check. The money can be used by the student council for activities or community building.
Our goal was to help fund-raise money for the Avera McKennan Ronald McDonald House at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.

The collection started on October 5th and ended on November 6th, giving each school district a month to gather as many pop tabs as they could. This year, all schools combined collected a total of 207,006 pop tabs. The winning school this year was Westbrook-Walnut Grove High School with a total of 73,817 pop tabs. Fulda came in second place with 56,040 pop tabs and Murray County Central took third with a total of 37,819 pop tabs. Heron Lake-Okabena had 26,983 which was good enough for fourth place. Red Rock Central came second to last with only 9,607 and Tracy-Milroy-Balaton finished last with 2,740. We fund-raised a total of $94.84 for the Ronald McDonald House in Sioux Falls. Thank you for helping the Westbrook-Walnut Grove Earth YES! Class help kids in need.
