WaysToHelp.org Grants ongoing
Teens are invited to apply for grants to fund their community service ideas. Visit www.waystohelp.org and for any of 16 issue areas, selecting “See Ways To Help” followed by “Apply for a Grant”. Applications are 5,000 words or less: how the project will involve others, who it will help, what effect it’s expected to have, when it will start and how the funds will be used. www.waystohelp.org
The State Farm Youth Leadership for Service-Learning Excellence Award Deadline: October 29

Office Depot Foundation Grants Deadline: November 15
Grants: mostly around $1000. Funding focus: Making a Difference in Children’s Lives – to support activities that serve, teach and inspire children, youth and families; Building Communities – to support civic organizations and activities that serve the needs of our community. Amway Positivity Project Prizes Deadline: October 17
$10,000 grand Positivity Prize or one of nine $2,500 Positivity Prizes. The Project highlights everyday stories of how positivity has made a difference, to inspire and motivate others. Share your story through video, pictures, essay, illustration or poetry. Twenty-five stories will be selected as semi-finalists by a panel of judges, and the Positivity Prize winners will be chosen through public voting. www.yourpositivityproject.com/contest/ (link no longer live)
Prudential Spirit of Community Awards Deadline: November 1
12 students will receive the maximum award of $1,000 and a trip to Washington, DC. Partnership of Prudential with the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) to honor middle level and high school students for outstanding volunteer community service to others and to inspire others to think about how they might contribute to their communities. Eligible: student in grades 5-12 as of November 1, legal US resident, have engaged in a volunteer activity in the last 12 months, and submitted a completed application to a school principal or local organization by November 1. http://spirit.prudential.com
UnitedHealth HEROES Service-Learning Grants Deadline: October 22
Grants of up to $1,000 to encourage young people, partnering with schools and nonprofits, to create and implement local hands-on programs to fight childhood obesity. www.YSA.org/HEROES (link no longer live)
